Buskers Meeting PDF Print E-mail

The city centre manager Andrew Cooper is planning to hold an open meeting with the buskers to discuss the situation with selling CDs. There have been complaints about this, which some people feel amounts to unlicensed trading.

Busking is on the verge of being licenced in Bath and a few of us are keen to work with officials to self regulate and delay the inevitable.

The date and place of the meeting are yet to be confirmed, but most likely be on a Saturday at the 10am buskers meeting. It is in your interests to be there.

You can read more information about this and a personal point of view by a busker here.

New Bath Buskers Guide PDF Print E-mail

The Bath Buskers Guide is an initiative (like this website) by a handful of local buskers who felt there was a need to remind everybody of the established busking protocol. It is based on the original Buskers Code of Practice (almost word for word). A key message in the leaflet is to encourage buskers to co-operate with each other to keep sound levels down (not just amplifiers) to a reasonable level and maintain a sense of harmony on the streets.

There is a map on the leaflet with all the busking pitches and the established booking system. The only change is that the Council has agreed to 'tolerate' amplification which is a major step forward but we must not abuse this freedom. A lot of effort has gone into creating the leaflet and getting onboard official support without their interference to make it regulation top-heavy so that the buskers both local and visiting can find it easy to read. Thanks to Andrew Cooper,Bath City Centre manager who arranged a meeting between a handful of buskers and the local authorities and also tightened up the design of the leaflet and financed the printing of it.

Busking in the Southgate Centre PDF Print E-mail

Some recent discussion on Flickr suggested that the new Southgate Centre in Bath might not welcome buskers.

In fact we have been assured by the Southgate Centre Management that this is not the case, and that they are keen to welcome buskers, and in fact will be setting up their own booking system.
